Voters Select

 duality systems can

conclude all close elections,

but multi-party voters

enjoy wider selection

Circus

 day to day a circus,
our politics does play,
each ring's sway after us,
every to gain way

Causes

 to win caused by fear

and by intimidation

is a cause to beat

No Filibusters

 democracy has meaning

it is won as if dreaming

lost at the tip of top hats

why would a nation want that?

Justice

 justice serves legal

action elected by those

from we the people

The Elected

 duly selected,

truly elected,

representatives

fully tout missives

Compromise

candidates' promises

to compromise

are for peoples' views

compromise we all want

their promises

will always come true

Serve us all

Obfuscating amidst
confusing and hating
serves yourself.

Helping others amidst
understanding and love
serves us all.

"Politics II," a poem

although you can say,
"you can do it,"
there is a difference
"I'm the citizen" bit

although you can say,
"this is for you,"
there is a preference
"this is from you, too"

although you can say,
"I am serious about this,"
there is a deference
"I will diss this"

although you can say,
"God bless America,"
there is an allegiance
"that's from me, ha!"

"Democracy," a poem

democracy stirs --
better now that one votes --
voters together --
candidates have voters' tether.

democracy deals --
all reach the ideal vote --
voters to reveal --
candidates see voters' appeal.

democracy calls --
all for votes, votes for all --
voters can stand tall --
candidates will heed voters' call.

"Money in politics," a poem

You can laugh out loud,
that's alright, you have no say.
Money is the milk
that's incentive, even proud
that's in political sway.

"Corruption," a poem

what works is not enough.
where is the representation,
when there's corruption?
why, because of distraction.
how?  it's not loyalty tough.

"Activism II," a poem

Activism II

who dares is who cares
about his own interest
through activism of him
who moves the earth
through thick and thin
about government
what it's meant, intents
his heart speaks out
about issue mis-use
overturning doubt
with news, his views
coming together
to forge and renew
change for good
because what matters
has meaning, not feeling

"Leadership," a poem

Leadership

You charge for access,
I believe in free speech

Money is corrosive,
To independent thinkers

Money is not free speech,
Free speech is for people

Represent your constituents,
Not the fundraisers

Leadership can be voted in,
Corruption can be voted out

Leadership is independent,
And so should the voter be

"Save Our Earth," a poem in haiku

Save Our Earth

green ecology
healthy, clean environment
losing the battle

stocks, bonds and money
out of touch with our main street
absence of the soul

mountains now topless
streams, rivers now sewage pipes
unwelcome to seas

rain still comes and goes
but their intensity woes
detract from living

is it drought we want
or floods and wind damages?
carbon makes the score

does it matter if
you are left, right, center when
there's too much carbon?

"I don't know for sure."
"I have my heart set on no."
That's disappointing.

leadership reminds
constituents importance
there's too much carbon

we are its steward
return to nature and we
return to living

sunshine, breeze, rain, waves
come into my life today
energy God made

make peace with the Earth
nature gives more than you think
it's ours, we're steward

"Activism," a poem

Activism

emotion

lacks sought,

isn't bought...

lacks flight,

is insight...

lacks strength,

goes to lengths...

lacks strife,

out as life...

lacks insanity,

is humanity...

in motion

"We occupiers," a poem

We occupiers

we make
our amends
we wake,
our friends!

we demand
our justice
we're hand in hand,
as just is!

we live
in the present
we strive,
none to resent!

we assess
what is good
we press,
what we should!

we move
with conviction
we love,
no division!

we act
no politics
we tack,
no polemics!

we fight
the good fight
we right,
in our sight!

"On good government and good politics" haiku poems

On good government and good politics

To be ideal
is what we are striving for.
Otherwise, no deal.

time is on our side,
just as the stars swing the sky,
just souls you and i

even a full moon
has light on its other side
stars are everywhere

vote for the one who
has the least hair and most jokes
he/she will be wise

Constituents want
more than the 4th of July
they want the whole pie!

citizens relate
to their representatives
when they are like us

equal access means
not only more listening--
it's comprehensive

frankness, not boldness
breaks the ice of cleverness
into true witness

debates are to be
held, not for rhetoric,
but application

blessed be the poor
the homeless, the disabled,
yes, the neediest!

Save, love knows no dire consequences

"Occupy," haiku poems by David Weller

I believe our political culture in the USA needs to be reformed into a system that a civilization can be proud of. Here a few insights as short poems I wrote tonight; I hope they are a blessing to you and this great nation of ours.

Occupy
by David Weller

social acts of love,
signals not of good or bad,
but what's not evil

displaying one's own
originality is
solidarity

electricity
can light main street, not wall street
#OWS

the rich have it that
money creates politics
go pro-creation

hot are the sidewalks
that lead to chummy Wall Street
sneakers are required

greedy financiers
think they already do know,
yet the wise do sow.

Quickly, what is the
reason for the tax season?
Nourish government.

computer money
does not calculate into
honest transactions

commerce depends on
good managers to build on,
not manager's son

to be ideal is
not to be subliminal
it is substantial

"Politics," a poem

Politics

Crass pundit hacks
results in
Crass candidate cracks

Crass money bags
results in
Crass campaign ads

Crass party movements
results in
Crass voter vents

Crass representatives
results in
Crass officials' pensives

Deformed political vultures
its solution:
Reformed national cultures

"We, the People," a poem

We, the People

Occupy them all

Occupy Wall Street,
occupy with feet!

Occupy Times Square,
occupy with flair!

Occupy DC,
occupy with freedom!

Occupy Chicago,
occupy to and fro!

Occupy LA,
occupy with fame!

Occupy and stand tall

"It's Written in the Stars," a poem

It's Written in the Stars
Dedicated to Suzy

it's written in the stars

ours, is a play of actors

knowing what's right

willing to fight

but fighting without wars

"On voting and elections" haiku poems

On voting and elections

a nation's culture
is critical to its own
democracy health

Fail the king who votes--
monarchy is just for moats,
not democracy

voter ID laws
from government have peoples'
human rights questioned

Corruption is ties
in the guise of enterprise
for ultimate prize

voters will reveal
disenfranchisement, malaise
from bad government

"On transparent government" poems

On transparent government

open data, are
yet for the honest, yet are
needed, for the truth.

the light of day makes
government data public,
who makes it info

Information.

It's data appealed,
Secrets revealed.
It's truth unveiled,
Lies curtailed.

Transformation.

disruption, corruption
data, beta
info, disinfo
meta, getta
things that I need?
things that I weed
dilly, dally, make your way
prove not news but have your say?
ethics, metrics
morals, immoral
prove your news and have your way

government openness

like a sunrise
building the paradise

like a shower
building budding flowers

like a fair day
building and bundling hay

like a fresh gust
building the people's trust

"Public deliberation" poems

As we debate in our nation's capital, let us take a moment to reflect on the inherent wisdom of our higher selves.  Life is always a sign of hope; let life sustain us to a just and right solution.

Public deliberation

about doubt!
no doubt about it!
we all have it!
we must move on, though,
human beings require work...

in fullness of doubt
does one turn about
and remain
true to
oneself

honesty, without
eternity to believe,
means nothing to me

hearts are one when we
go each our own way, when we
never make th' other stay

breaking the sweetness
with vapors of great feats, lest
we grow eliteness

doubt that you own the
moon and all of its brightness, and
you will be right less

it doesn't matter
"how" it's done,
just get "wise"
in how it's
never quite won...

love denies pain and
glory and foresight and all
that's left of what's right

Love hates sinning and
likes you without winning, so
that's selfless giving!

"Renew Nature," a poem

Renew Nature

brighten a mountain,
and trap it with trees,
and love as a dove...

clean a river wide,
and whip it with waves,
and love as a dove...

lighten a flower,
and stir it with scent,
and love as a dove...

glean our Creation,
and tip it with thanks,
and love as a dove...

"The primaries" a poem

The primaries

Who were the few that's already voted...
I really, have got, to know...
Only the few states that've already hosted...
I could've had my own say so...

There's fifty states that make up the union...
More if you count those small islands...
Only the few that have voted have won...
I hadn't laid the cards in my hand...

Most campaigns are already finished now...
Few candidates left to support...
Only a few were able to vote, somehow...
I didn't have a vote's chance, *snort*...

The future winner of our party's already derided...
Let's bring on President Obama...
But Super PAC's ads will have it decided...
And election's to win in Alabama...

"Voting Day," a poem

Voting Day

Sincerity sings the Blues
Honesty rings in the booths
Clarity's always concerned
Election's the voters' turn

"Lifetime," a poem

Lifetime

Time brings whatever it deems,
That's the scene of everything;
Life shows just what it seems...
In this fable I will sing.

Life sings wherever one goes,
That's the scene of everything;
Time tells all that it knows...
To the table I will bring.

"Nation," a poem

Nation

Government is for all citizens,
government is made of denizens

Politics is promoting factions,
politics' ideas in action

Compromise is legislator work,
compromise is complete without pork

Country danger is priority,
country safety is security

Treasury debt is trial concerned,
treasury surplus honestly earned

Society failure is best learned,
society success is blessed yearned

"Innocence," a poem

Innocence

histories of times tell truth,
histories of the uncouth...

times of trial see no end,
times of evil's not God-sent...

trials of evidence may,
trials of the truth portrays...

evidence of guilt portend,
evidence of defense tends...

guilt of innocence pretend,
guilt of all purpose intents...

innocence of insight stay,
innocence of truth that strays...

"Mental Stuff," a poem

Mental Stuff

Theories will come, and theories go
You still never know, no you never know
And though life is slow, and times are tough
There's but never enough, no never enough

We learn, and we yearn and we stay on our way
We have our own say, if only we may
And though life is slow, and times are tough
Had me some stuff, some more mental, stuff

Pleased to meet you, glad we had passed
Even though speechless, we had but to ask
And though life is slow, and times are tough
Got me some stuff, some more mental, stuff

We each go our way, to finish the day
Even so, we never know, no ever gray
And though life is slow, and times are tough
There is just not enough, no never enough
